Paolo Cappabianca, MD has spent his entire career at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Naples, Italy, where he completed his medical training and currently serves as Professor and Chairman of the University’s Neurological Surgery Department. Since 1997, Prof. Cappabianca has focused his clinical, teaching, and research efforts on developing and refining clinical standards for endoscopic neurosurgery, with special emphasis on transsphenoidal and skull base surgeries; in the course of this work he has led and inspired a team of young and highly motivated neurosurgeons to advance the field of endoscopic skull base surgery. By forming multidisciplinary collaborations with endocrinologists and other specialists, Prof. Cappabianca has made important contributions to the international research community.

Prof. Cappabianca is active in numerous international neurosurgical societies. He sits on the Editorial Boards of Neurosurgery and Surgical Neurology, and served as principal organizer or co-organizer of 15 national and international scientific congresses. A highly sought out speaker, Prof. Cappabianca has delivered presentations at more than 250 national and international symposia and lectured at well over 100 academic events. Widely published in medical literature, he has authored or co-authored 200 journal articles and 9 books or textbooks on diverse neurosurgical topics.

To deepen his knowledge of neurosurgery, Prof. Cappabianca has trained extensively outside Italy, attending multiple postgraduate courses in New York, London, Stockholm, and Wein, Austria.  He is also an avid rower, yachtsman, and board member at the “Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia” Yacht Club in Naples, Italy.
